Privacy Policy

Your Privacy Matters

At Worldly, we believe your travel memories belong to you and only you. This Privacy Policy explains how our iOS app handles your data—spoiler alert: we don't collect, store, or share any of your personal information on our servers because we don't have any servers.

The short version: Everything you add to Worldly stays on your iPhone. Period.

Information We Collect

Worldly collects only the travel information you manually choose to add:

  • Places you've visited (continents, countries, states/provinces, cities)
  • Dates you visited these places
  • Optional notes about your visits

Important: We don't automatically track your location. You decide what to add and when to add it.

How We Store Your Data

All your travel data is stored locally on your device using Apple's secure data storage technologies (SwiftData/Core Data). This means:

  • No cloud servers: We don't have backend servers collecting your data
  • No user accounts: No email, no password, no sign-up process
  • No data transmission: Your travel history never leaves your iPhone
  • Your device, your data: You have complete control

If you delete the app, all your data is deleted with it (unless backed up through iCloud, which is managed entirely by Apple's iOS backup system—we have no access to this).

Analytics and App Usage Data

To improve Worldly and understand how users interact with the app, we use Firebase Analytics (provided by Google) to collect limited, anonymized usage data:

  • App usage: Screen views, session duration, app opens, and crash reports
  • Device information: Device model, operating system version, and device identifiers (IDFV)
  • User interactions: Button taps, feature usage, map selections, and in-app purchase events

Important clarifications:

  • No location data: Your travel history and location data are NEVER sent to Firebase or any analytics service. All location data remains 100% local on your device.
  • No advertising: We do not collect advertising identifiers (IDFA) or use analytics data for advertising purposes
  • App improvement only: Analytics data is used solely to understand app performance, identify crashes, and improve features

Analytics data is stored on Google's Firebase servers and is accessible only by us through the Firebase console. This data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

Third-Party Services

Worldly integrates with the following third-party services:

Apple MapKit

We use Apple MapKit for:

  • Place search: When you search for a location to add, MapKit helps find the place
  • Map display: The map tiles and styles you see are provided by Apple Maps

We do not send any of your saved travel data to MapKit—only the search queries you type when looking for places. MapKit services are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Apple In-App Purchases

Worldly offers premium map styles for purchase through Apple's In-App Purchase system. When you make a purchase, Apple processes the payment and may collect payment information according to Apple's Privacy Policy. We receive only anonymous transaction information (purchase confirmation) and do not have access to your payment details.

What We Don't Do

To be crystal clear, Worldly does NOT:

  • Collect, store, or transmit your travel history or location data to our servers
  • Track your location automatically (in the current version)
  • Require you to create an account or provide an email address
  • Share, sell, or monetize your personal data in any way
  • Use analytics data for advertising or marketing purposes
  • Display advertisements
  • Access your contacts, photos, or other device data (except places you explicitly choose to add)

Your Rights and Control

You have complete control over your data:

  • Access: View all your data anytime within the app
  • Edit: Modify or update any visit details
  • Delete: Remove individual visits or delete all data
  • Export: Export your travel data (feature available in app settings)
  • Portability: Your data is yours to keep, move, or delete as you wish

Since all data is stored locally on your device and we have no servers, exercising these rights is as simple as using the app's built-in features.

Data Security

Your data is protected by your iPhone's built-in security features, including device encryption and your device passcode/biometric authentication. Since we don't transmit your data over the internet or store it on external servers, many common security risks simply don't apply to Worldly.

Children's Privacy

Worldly does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Since all data is stored locally and we have no backend systems, we have no way of knowing the age of our users. Parents should supervise their children's use of the app as they would any other mobile application.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. If we make significant changes, we'll notify you through the App Store update notes. Your continued use of Worldly after changes means you accept the updated policy.

Future Features

We're considering adding optional features in the future, such as automatic location tracking or photo import. If we add any features that change how we handle data, we'll update this Privacy Policy and clearly explain what's changing. Any such features will be opt-in, and you'll always have control over what data you share with the app.
